i have an addiction

My addiction is to baby carriers. I love them. When I was prego I researched all different kinds so that I would just buy one perfect carrier. Yeah, that doesn't exist. Your needs for a carrier change depending on the age and temperament of your baby and the situation. I currently own three different carriers (the Beco, a hotsling, and a traditional Indonesian sling). I use all three on a regular basis. Today, I bought another one--the Moby wrap. It was 50% off from babysteals.com. I couldn't resist. I'm not sure how much I'll use it with Asher (although you can use them up 35 pounds), but I know these are especially great for newborns. I got the white one... which is already sold out! Hurry if you want the blue one... it will probably sell out soon.

Now I just need a ring sling, and I think I may be covered. :-)

  2. Oh, I love our Moby! It was FANTASTIC when the Boy was around 4-7 months...he would hang out in there and sleep no matter where we were. It was really great for traveling. I don't use it so much now but I will once we have another one.

And I'm totally thinking about one of those Mayas...but I also really like the Puj...I must make a decision as I cannot possibly rationalize both.

  3. we share the same addiction

Is the beco the same thing essentially as the ergo? I really like the beco for the back carrying feature. I have a bjorn type carrier (that I rarely used), a sleepywrap (same thing as a moby really) which was the only thing that saved me back in the newborn stage. I loved it, and I have a ringsling from Prairie Mama http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5167813
which I adore and is what I use the most. I especially love the pocket feature on her slings. She's awesome.

I've been looking into a Beco or an Ergo but my husband would probably kill me if I bought another carrier. I need someone to do a giveaway or something man.

  4. I LOVE my ring sling. I'm not a huge fan of it with newborns, but from I'd say about 6 months to 2 1/2 years it is the BOMB! I bought one with Joey, but decided with savanna I didn't like the padding, so I made one of my own without all the extra padding and it is the only carrier I use. I used my snugli for the newborn stage, but I just can't find anything to beat my ring sling now. Just pop them on your hip, pull the tail tight and off you go! I can make one for you if you want... e-mail me at saraemily@haleycomputers.com if you're interested!

  6. Have you checked out mamabargains.com before? They're similar to babysteals, except that as soon as one product runs out, they put another up right away. It'a great! You should have a looksy... they've got pregnancy yoga stuff up right now, and that seems up your alley.

  7. I used the Moby when Fussbot was a newborn and he loved sleeping in it while I walked or did stuff around the house. I found that once he got a little more alert, he didn't like to be confined. The Bjorn worked great after that (forward facing) but once he got heavy I broke out the Ergo which I still use today. I've only used it as a backpack, the front newborn hold for it seemed rather squishy to me. Before I typed this out, I thought I had my addiction under control but re-reading that paragraph it seems not to be the case.
