On Thursday Asher and I are flying to New Mexico to see my parents. I'm feeling a bit nervous. Asher has flown several times but it was all before he was mobile and I always had Jared with me. Luckily we have a direct flight and it's only an hour and a half. But.... I'm still nervous.
What tips do you have? What trick should I have up my sleeve to keep him happy and not crawling as fast as he can down the aisle?
Don't be nervous. Pack lots of food, sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer, wipe down every surface area around you when you get on the plane, give that kid a magazine to destruct, a window to look out of and it'll be all good!

ReplyDeleteMy Savanna is 13 months right now and quite a little busy body! I find that when I have to go somewhere I can't let her be the wiggle worm she is, she isn't quite as wiggly in my ring sling. I stick her in that and for some reason she just knows she can't wiggle her way out of it, so she doesn't. As I know you already know... slings are priceless pieces of equipment!! Also, lots of snacks, books, toys, and love! And you're still nursing, right? If he isn't too busy to nurse, he might be happy to lay back, relax, and nurse. Best of luck to you!
ReplyDeletenursing, food, and a window seat. it is impossible to nurse a bigger baby in the middle seat. aisles are hard too. by the window they can kick their little feet and not bother anyone. also, i just didn't ever let george think it was an option to get up and move around-- i knew if he knew he could, we would never sit down again. i will pray that you are sitting next to a kind grandma who has been there and will be very helpful :).
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to give him something to drink/chew/suck on during take off. The pressurization of the cabin affects his ears more intensely than yours and can be painful--and he'll let you know about it for the rest of the flight.

Let me know if you find something that works. We had such a rough time with Charlotte when we went to NC in July that we bought a portable DVD player and let her watch Einstein almost the whole way home. It's the only way I can keep her out of the aisles short of Benedryl.
