Occoneechee Mountain

We have had absolutely gorgeous weather the past week or so. The colors are vibrant and the temperature temperate. It has been ideal! I wanted to take advantage of this and go for a hike over the weekend. I did a little internet search and decided to try out Occoneechee Mountain State Park. I found directions on google maps and we were off Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, Google maps let me down and what should have taken less than 30 minutes, took more than an hour. We had to stop and buy a map at a gas station and FINALLY got there! It was really frustrating and I almost gave up a few times, but we finally found it and it was so worth it! It was a so beautiful--the light was perfect! And it really was a little mountain!

How precious is that sweet face?

It really was this beautiful!

An obligatory self-family portrait

This was at the top of the mountain at an overlook. Sadly, there was a sign that said we couldn't go closer because it was unsafe. Is that an amazing view or what? I'm really bummed we couldn't go to the edge.

I can't resist this face!

This is pretty much what I do all day long--kiss those cheeks!

I love that he is actually smiling in this picture with me.

This is the same pond that I posted the other day. The light and the trees and the water were all perfect!

  1. Wow, Katrina! You are like a regular Ansel Adams now. Those photos are amazing. Nature should get some credit, but you certainly have a knack for capturing their beauty. And of course, Asher is such a cutie. Looks like you guys had fun.

  2. I LOVE how these pictures turned out!! You are so talented, Katrina. I think you are pretty darn amazing all around. These pictures, plus the memories, make every minute of that unnecessarily long car ride worth it. Love you!

  3. Absolutely breathtaking, I can't imagine what it must look like in real life.
These photos should be in a calendar or something.

  4. Every single one of these pictures is so beautiful. Asher is getting so big and so expressive! I love it.

And you? You're as beautiful as the Autumn leaves, my dear.

  5. I was thinking the same thing! Only the autumn leaves at their most beautiful, as the sun catches them and infuses them with the glow of transformation. These pictures really are awesome, in the strict sense of the word. I am so lucky!

  8. Absolutely GORGEOUS!!! I love them all but especially the foliage in the last one . Incredible. I love this season but wished it lasted a bit longer! I'm so glad you captured all of these!

Oh, and I meant to say about the diapers-I give Jared major major husband kudos for volunteering to do it all. I thought Jake was a star player in fairness, but I'm going to have to tell him about this! :)

I also looked at Asher's blog (only once so far)-so cute. I tried to comment the other day (on here), but couldn't...now I forget now what I was going to say.

  11. Wow--incredibly, stunningly gorgeous! And such a cute babe.

Also, I nominated you for a "blog award" (see my blog). I'm not really into chain-email-type-things (which this reminds me of), so I'm not beholding you to anything by nominating you. You can pass it on or not, but I thought you'd like to know . . .
