some light reading

There is lots going on in the news today, so I thought I'd share a few great articles I read this morning.

We will miss him dearly. The New York Times has a fantastic article about Gordon B. Hinckley today.

The rest of these are political:

From Time: "Can Romney's Inner Geek Win Out?"

From The New York Times: "Desperate Husband"

Also from NYT: "A President Like My Father" This one is a HUGE deal. If you only read one, read this one.

And related to the last one: "Kennedy chooses Obama, Spurning Plea by Clintons"

  1. i tell you what. as a general rule, i avoid politics. it's an easy breeding ground for contention, and if there's one thing i can't stand, it's contention.

BUT i am LOVING this presidential race! why? because every single candidate is interesting. it's not just boring old white democrat dude versus boring old white republican dude. even the old white dudes aren't boring this time around. learning about these people and watching them campaign is fascinating. i'm still not actively involved, and i have no idea yet who i'm voting for, but i'm thoroughly enjoying the ride!

sp thanks for all the updates and articles you post! :)

  3. It looks as though many of us bloggers have lifted the same photo of the prophet.

  5. Funny, I used that photo, too. It's been interesting to read about all of the presidential endorsements the last few days. To be honest, I'm not sure I'd want some of them (like Ted Kennedy's!)... Anyway, we are super into the election, as well. We watched a thing on CNN the other night about how drastically numbers from polls can be skewed in favor of one candidate or another. Makes me want to ignore the media all together! (But I can't!)

  8. Hey darling. :-) I love President Hinckley so much, and am touched Olivia cried. I remember writing in my journal when President Kimball died, and I drew flowers around my entry and such. But I am so happy for him, though I mourn the passing of an era in the Church. He was tired and missed his sweetheart so terribly. He had a deal with God, I think, to go in a day, instead of lingering. And he did.
