pioneer day!

Here in Utah, July 24th is, to some, a bigger deal than the 4th of July. July 24th is the day we celebrate the pioneers arrival into Utah back in 1847. Salt Lake City has a big parade and a rodeo. There are even fireworks. But we just celebrated with a little hike near one of the parks up Provo Canyon. And then we got a little crazy with some sparklers. Here are a few photos. If you would like to see more click here.
First let me set the scene:

Not too shabby, huh? Utah mountains really are gorgeous.

And here is one of my little "pioneers":

And here is another one:

Aren't those braids adorable?

Here they are together looking really happy:

And here's our other little pioneer, except not so dressed up and holding a stranger's puppy:

Flower pickin' fools:

Another scenic shot:

Enjoying the great outdoors.

It rained on the walk back... here we are a bit wet.

Back at the cinder-block palace... we had some good ole fashioned fun with sparklers.

And I'm spent.

  2. What cute dresses! Where ever did you get them!?!
You know, if you are ever in Salt Lake, you should let me know and we could meet somewhere!
Or, if you are planning any trips to Seven Peaks in the near future, we will be there on August 1st!
I'd love to meet your adorable family and finally see you after all these years, since you are so close and soon you will be so far away! I do love reading your blog!
