flowers week day 3: more backyard

Just a few more from our backyard.

I think this is a variety of wild rose.

And is this Queen Anne's Lace?
I couldn't decide which of these I like more.
Same three flowers, just with different focal point.

  2. i LOVE your flower pictures.... aaa.... what camera do you use? canon? nikon? i have a nikon, but my editing software on this mac is subpar. I don't know how to use Aperture (Mark got it for my birthday... but it's too intimidating!) What do you use, if you don't mind sharing your secret! :)

  3. Thanks, Jayci! I use a Nikon D90 and Photo Shop to edit my photos. For the flower pics I mostly just brighten them up and increase contrast and then sharpen them a little. I think the key to the flower pics is having a pretty open aperture so you get a shallow depth of field.

  4. that's a great tip!! I have a Nikon D90 as well!! I'm on the right track then. :oP Which lens do you shoot with? I figure I'll push my luck with asking you questions!! :o)

  5. I mostly shoot with the 50 mm 1.8. It is only around 100 bucks and worth every penny. I definitely recommend it. I take all my flower pics with it and most of my portraits.

  6. Thanks, Katrina!! :) I am going to look into it. Mark has had our nice camera packed away ready to take on his trip with him, so I've been using my little canon 'purse-camera'... I'm excited to break it out again. :)
