wanted: housekeeper

Jared snapped this photo a couple weeks ago of Asher playing in the clothes by our bedroom closet.
Yeah, it still looks about the same!

I'm sitting here on the couch with the laptop looking at folded clean laundry that has been sitting on our floor for days. There is also a pile of clean laundry on the floor of the bedroom. This happens every time we do laundry. It gets to the folded stage and then I have the hardest time getting to the actually putting it away stage. Why do I hate that so much?! I don't really know. But I do. I think that if I had someone who would do this one household chore, I could handle the rest so much better. For the record, I have to say that my husband does do a lot of the actual putting clothes in the washer/dryer part of the laundry. But I do the sorting and folding and then hate putting the clothes away.

I realized something else about myself the other day too. Once I am in project mode, I can get a lot done. But it takes some major gearing up to get in project mode and if I get interrupted, my momentum is easily lost. As I'm sure you can figure out, with a baby that is constantly needing me, I get interrupted a lot and have a hard time getting back to my projects--aka cleaning! sigh.

Basically this was a long way to say that my house is a mess and I hate cleaning!

What I'm wondering is.... what is your arch nemesis of household chores? If you could hire someone to do one household chore for you, what would it be?

  1. mopping the bathroom floor. loathe it. everything else, I'm super-organized and on top of it, but I put off those dang floors every day.

  2. Dishes, for sure! I feel like I am always doing the dishes but there are always more. My hands are dry and cracked from doing them so much. Gardening might be a good one for me too, I suck at it!

  3. I hate, hate, hate cleaning the shower! Oh how I despise it. In general I'm really bad at keeping my bathrooms clean, especially with Charlie around because we always keep the doors closed (you know, or he'll play in the toilet... gross!) So it's out of sight out of mind. And I would hire someone to clean my floors. That's a pain too!

And your friend Hatsuho should try some cleaning gloves while she does dishes! I use them and they totally keep my hands nice and soft and smooth!

  4. Oh I could just say ditto to everything you just said!

I am a bad housekeeper! I would have someone do dishes for sure! I hate them. Well I love my dishes...just hate washing them.

  5. I absolutely hate cleaning my toilets or anywhere around them. And I hate folding laundry, so bless you, Katrina, for getting through all that with such joy. I actually have hired someone to do this crappy stuff for me now, and whenever I think about how I don't have to do it anymore I feel like the luckiest girl in the world!

  7. I also wanted to comment on your darling, cute shoes. I was eying your blue wedges (is that what they are called?). But, I am there with you, I hate the folding and putting away of laundry.

  10. bathrooms! I could clean everything else 20 times before I touch the bathrooms. I am ashamed at the level of discustingness that my bathrooms become before I actually break down and clean them... ew. I know. ew. Tell u what- I'll do ALL your laundry - wash, dry, fold, put away - if you come do my bathrooms!!

  11. Definitely folding laundry. I realize it takes only 15 minutes, but for some reason it takes me about 5 days to get to it. You should see the pile today!

  12. My living room looks the same way right now. I love folding laundry, but it's hard to make it to the putting away stage for some reason.

I'd have to say bathroom for sure is top of my list worst though.

  13. The dishes! And I might as well just say the whole kitchen! We do now finally have a dishwasher, but anything that's not dishwasher-safe or all those big pots and pans, etc... They never get washed at our house. They just pile up on the counter top until my dear, sweet husband gets sick of looking at them and tackles the stack. Yes, I would definitely hire someone to wash my dishes!

  14. The problem with housecleaning is the repetitiveness. I hate it all.
