33 weeks

How your baby's growing:This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

We are grateful for another week down. Just three more weeks and then I won't have any restrictions and this baby is free to come. I really feel like we'll make it there.

  1. First of all...I am a little bit jealous about how great you look. Really, you are so stylish and darling. Second, I am so glad that things are going well, and although the boxes and mess are annoying, it will be worth it in the end...which I know you know. Maybe you could get the kids to play the "unpack the boxes game"?

I am so excited for you!

  4. Glad to hear he's still in there. I was worried after no posts for a few days, although even if he came now he's in a fairly safe zone as far as gestational age.
