11 weeks

How your baby's growing: Your baby, just over 1 1/2 inches long and about the size of a fig, is now almost fully formed. Her hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under her gums, and some of her bones are beginning to harden.

She's already busy kicking and stretching, and her tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will become more frequent as her body grows and becomes more developed and functional. You won't feel your baby's acrobatics for another month or two — nor will you notice the hiccupping that may be happening now that her diaphragm is forming.

Good news! I have felt SO much better the past four days! It's been wonderful. I haven't been at all sick, just hungry! I hope this lasts, but I won't hold my breath.

Thank you to everyone who commented on my last post. I really appreciate your input. For anyone who still has thoughts, feel free to keep commenting. I welcome the different perspectives.

  1. Sorry, I have been more of a lurker and less of a commenter lately!

I love that you are feeling better and pregnancy is looking up. I hate feeling nasty and sick while pregnant. I remember walking in to our apartment (on several occassions) and saying,"something has got to go!...run the disposal, take out the trash, clean out the fridge...gag gag!" :)

I love weekly updates on your little ones growth! I checked a website for this stuff all the time while I was pregnant. It is all such a wonderful miracle!

  2. PS As for your post below...very interesting. I would love to see this film. Anyway, my personal perference, was with a doctor at a hospital. I felt safer and more secure, incase anything did go wrong they can hep. Whereas a midwife just has to the turn your over to the hospital. I have heard a billion great stories about midwives and how much people have loved them, so I know they must be great for a reason, but I think I'll take my epidural and doctor any day. I have to say though no matter which way you go...MAKE SURE YOU GET A REFERAL! Make sure you really know your doctor or midwife and the way they handle things. I think that is key to making a choice. Be educated and know what you want to have happen during your labor...do you want an epidural? do you want an episiotomy? do you want to have a natural birth? Be upfront with your doctor or midwife and let them know what you want, that way there are no surprises in the delivery room. My .02 cents. :) For what they are worth.
