to cut or not to cut?

Ok, folks. It's that time again when I am totally sick of my hair. I need a haircut before I go back to North Carolina and I want to change it up a little. All summer I have been contemplating the bang. As in cutting bangs again. A few years ago I did the long sideswept thing for awhile. But for the past year or so I have been sick of bangs and mine have been grown out to below the chin, blended in with my long layers. Now I am thinking I want to go all the way and do the straight across look. What do you think? Being a round-faced girl I have combed the internet for other round facers and decided I like Mandy Moore's hair the best.

Seen here (please ignore Jessica) they are kinda long. I would cut them a tad shorter to start.

I also like Kirsten Dunst's here:

And here are a few other celebrity bangs:

I figure bangs are a way to change my hair without cutting it short which i really don't want to do right now. I also really love my friend Tracy's bangs (i hope you don't mind i swiped this off your blog):

So what do you all think? Give me your opinions!!! Here is a recent picture of me to help you out. Pretty much I don't do my hair anymore. I just let it air dry, but with a new style (and no kids this fall) I think I will be ready to put some effort back into it again.

  1. hmm. first of all, the last two pics didn't show up--i don't know if it was just my computer. hmm...ok, they're not showing up in firefox either.

anyway, i agree with you--i either like mandy moore or nicole richie's best. personally i'm more a fan of the swept to the side rather than straight across, just because i think you have to have a HUGE forehead to wear them straight across (and as I recall, you don't) and i also think it kind of looks like a mat of hair. i just think the sideswept version looks more classy. a little more grownup and alluring, whereas the straight across look i think always makes people look more juvenile.

so there's my two cents. and btw, crazy about the small world--i actually found char's blog by browsing spencer and suzy's (i am such a shameless blog hopper that it's not even funny) and realized hey, i know that girl!

  4. Um I say yes...cut em straight across!! Because #1 It's hair and it will grow back, and #2 you might just love them. I think they would be cute on you. Plus the great thing about bangs is if you just do your bangs the rest of your hair looks done. Go for it!

  5. I say don't do it. But that's because I'm a hair whimp and would never have the guts to do it myself. I also say do whatever Danielle says 'cause she's cool and smart. So, there you go...two conflicting pieces of advice from me. Helpful?

  7. Danielle, thanks for your confidence in my bang plan! I'm about 99% sure I am going to do it. But it will have to wait until next week at the earliest, because we are in New Mexico right now. I will totally post pictures after though!

  8. oh good. I am just checking back again...you know... to see, so I am glad to hear that. Also I thought of something else about bangs that is good. You can pin them back if you get sick of them, and you can wear cute headbands and look kind of modern instead of like a 12 year-old. OK I will leave you alone about now.
