The most subversive, revolutionary act in this world is to speak the truth. This is especially so for women. Speaking one’s truth is an act of courage requiring a level of assertiveness that may or may not be in a woman’s possession. Patriarchal cultures have traditionally frowned upon assertiveness in women, training their daughters instead to exist for those around them rather than for themselves. 1. as much as I agree up to a point, don't you feel that passivity is something that *both* men and women are forced to accept - passivity to the economic system that rewards the top 1% with a third of the entire wealth in the US, passivity to the political elites that allows that to happen whilst waging two wars "in our name", passivity to a system where you can vote for one of two terrible presidents. Patriarchal is the wrong name - lets just call it oppressive.
